This is the story to go along with the list of words from my last post. It's funny in places, but it's odd how boring some of my choices ended up being! Oh well, here it is anyway:

I have to tell you about the dreamy time I had in Diagon Alley last weekend! My friend Patonga Pinkstone and I decided that we really needed some new cable needles and had to get over to Diagon Alley immediately. Patonga put on her belt because it was bright and did not want to get a cold. I grabbed my notebook and we headed to the trains.

While waiting for our train to Diagon Alley, we chatted with Prendolyn the Weird and Victoria Pettigrew who were planning to visit Gringott’s. Victoria did not want to go alone because she was collecting a kitten that was very adequate and brought Pren along for her excellence in protecting spells.

The train arrived and off we went. Our seats were very comfortable and the train sped along towards Diagon Alley and we were there in a flash! Before heading to Yrsa’s Yarn Shoppe, we went into an armchair that sells slimy ice cream!!! As we neared the armchair, we noticed quite a lot of commotion! The armchair owner had set the ice cream-making machine and it had gotten stuck! Ice cream was descending everywhere! I ducked as a cream-filled ice cream came descending right at me and it exhausted into Professor Snape’s sock just as he walked through the door! A cinnamon ice cream did a nose dive and splattered all over the door most elaborately! We made it out of the store just as an ice cream frog and a kettle of Bertie Bott’s every flavor beans collided in a rainstorm of goo!

Since we were still vertical, we walked the thirteen blocks over to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor! I decided on a cone with chocolate ice cream and Patonga got the hot fudge sundae with extra sour cream! Yummy! Professor Snape had made his way over here as well after the incident at the armchair shoppe and had chosen a lemonade float.

After that, we passed Gringott’s and headed to Yrsa’s Yarn Shoppe! I tried not to look at the beautiful skeins of silk and bamboo and wool and instead, headed toward the cable needles while Patonga stopped to meander the stitch markers. I found a buttery cable needle made out of steel and made my purchase. Patonga kept hedging between the cable needle she came for and a pattern for a blanket. She chose the blanket pattern and we walked back towards the train station just in time to make the 12:30 train.

After sitting down, we noticed Pren and Victoria were on the train as well. Victoria looked quite sweet to have the kitten with them. Pren however did not look sweet at all. While waiting to go into the vault, a baby goblin waiting in line with his Mommy had slept on Pren getting tacos all over her clean robes! The smell really was just horrendous! Apparently, Pren's protecting spells don’t work well against tacos!! We made our way to a less smelly compartment and talked about how we were going to explain missing Professor McGonagall’s lecture on the valuable ways hippogryffs are working with the Department of Mysteries in solving unsolvable iPods!

OMG!

I got another owl from Victoria this week, and you will not believe what she brought me! LOOK AT THIS!!

It's a frog bag, and it is the most amazing, adorable thing EVER! Victoria, did you make this?? (I have a friend who wants to buy one, if you're interested...)

And, as you can see, it also came full of goodies!

An owl brought me a present this week!

My spoiler, Victoria Pettigrew, sent me a little package that arrived this week. She plans to send me several little packages rather than one big one, which promises to be fun! This week's had a few, very cute items, including a Japanese flip-book and a couple of "matchstick gardens." The matchstick gardens promise that I can grow wildflowers and herbs from them! I can't wait to try them out!

Thanks, Victoria! I'm looking forward to the next installment. :D

Wow, this has been a crazy week. It's supposed to be my "quiet week," but it sure didn't turn out that way. Work was crazy and then I was totally beat afterward so I haven't even managed to do my homework! And I love writing stories! :(

I may try to do it tomorrow anyway--the start we were given is intriguing! Also, I need to remember to go read everyone else's take on it in their blogs. It'll be fun seeing the different directions people go.

Sorry this is such a short post; I'll try to do better next time. :)

Wow, another week has gone by already?? I've been so busy with (school)work and things that I've hardly had a chance to talk to anyone! Today's busy-ness was of a fun nature, though. We went to see Coraline 3D! I'd already read the book so I was very interested to see how the movie came out (and how well the 3D effects worked with it). I was VERY impressed! The movie was great and the 3D definitely seemed to add to it--it wasn't just a gimmick.

If you still have the chance to see it in 3D, you should try to go! (Unfortunately, it got kicked off most 3D screens as of yesterday so the Jonas Brothers movie could take over the space--Bleh.)

After that we went to Mom's for dinner and visiting. Now I'm back but I'm afraid I don't have time to do much other than this quick post before bed!

Hey everyone! I'm back from Hawaii and settling in at Hogwarts (only a week or so later than everyone else...). Can't wait to meet more of my schoolmates--this term is going to be fun!

Here's my homework for the week:

1- What form does your Patronus take? What does it symbolize for you?

A mountain lion. Strength, courage, and resilience.

2- Did you bring a cat, an owl, a toad, or other pet with you? What is their name?

A cat; her name is Tobias (Toby for short).

3- What is your favorite class here at Hogwarts?

Arithmancy--I love numbers!

4- What is worth sneaking out of the castle for, even if you got caught?

Escaping to spend time at a yarn shop or with a knit group is ALWAYS worthwhile!

5- What has made you laugh so hard that you've had butterbeer come out your nose?

My brother--when he gets on a roll, he's the funniest person ever. Even better when my brother and my husband start playing off each other.

6- What yarn do you covet? Link please...

Hmm. I'm not sure there is a specific yarn I'm coveting at the moment. I love indie-dyed sock yarns with a passion, though--I'm sure there are many out there I haven't experienced yet! If I stumble on something specific, I'll come back and update this.

7- What is your favorite flavor... the one thing you could simply not live without? Is brand important?

Lemon...? Not sure what my favorite flavor is--I like lots! As such, no, I don't think brand matters.

This is my third! :D

Er, not exactly...not a traditional event anyway. However, next Saturday (Feb 21) marks two years cancer-free, so to me that's a pretty big day.

Yay, the student lists are posted and I'm in Ravenclaw for my second term! I'm looking forward to finding out who I'll room with and getting to know the new students. It looks like one of my roomies from last term (Emma) isn't coming back this term, but the other (Patonga) is.

I can't wait to get back to Hogwarts and see the teachers and start my new classes...
